In an interview with Spanish newspaper AS, Simeone was asked whether he was excited at the prospect of the former Manchester United and City forward making the move to the Estadio Vicente Calderon, and admitted that he would be an ‘ideal’ signing.

– ‘Have you spoken with Tevez?’

‘With Carlos, I have to admit I haven’t spoken with him, but I know people at the club are talking to his agent.’

– Are you excited about the prospect of him joining?

‘It’s always exciting to be linked with players like Tévez. He has the game in his blood. He’d be an ideal signing for our style of play.’

Recent reports in talkSPORT claimed that Tevez had told Juve chiefs that he wishes to leave Turin in the summer, and Liverpool are rumoured to be readying a £15m bid for his signature.

The 31-year-old’s current contract with the Serie A champions expires at the end of next season, but the striker isn’t interested in seeing out the final year of his deal and would like to be playing elsewhere in the 2015-16 campaign.

The signing of free agent Danny Ings could have halted Brendan Rodgers’ interest in Tevez, however the uncertain future of Mario Balotelli, who has been linked with a return to AC Milan [Daily Star], could tempt the Northern Irish manager into making an offer, talkSPORT suggest.
