Chelsea transfer news

Chelsea are reportedly lining up a move to sign Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin in this summer’s transfer window, according to latest reports.

Although claims elsewhere have strongly linked the Blues with a move for former Manchester United front-man Radamel Falcao, it could be that Jose Mourinho will look to raid relegated Rangers for their top scorer in 2014/15.

Austin managed a highly impressive 18 league goals for QPR despite their drop down to the Championship, and he is now being considered by champions Chelsea ahead of next season, according to the Daily Star.

With Didier Drogba leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of his contract and Loic Remy struggling with injuries, Austin is a signing that makes sense for Mourinho’s side as they look to add depth up front, without necessarily buying a player to compete with Diego Costa for a regular starting spot.
