The Costa Rica international began the season in the Gunners first team, but after finding opportunities limited he was sent out on loan to La Liga outfit Villarreal during the January transfer window.

His time in Spain did not prove successful as he found the back if the net just once in 11 league appearances and it would appear he has no future at the Emirates Stadium despite signing a new deal at the turn of the year.

Mirror Sport cite reports from Turkish newspaper Milliyet that Fenerbahce are close to tying up a deal to sign the 22-year-old and are set to win the race ahead of David Moyes’s Real Sociedad.

Campbell is yet to start a Barclays Premier League for the Gunners and is unlikely to be a part of Arsene Wenger’s plans next season after reports have linked several strikers to the North London outfit during the summer.

Napoli legend Jose Alberti claimed [via Mirror Sport] that a deal for striker Gonzalo Higuain is close to completion, while Express Sport revealed Karim Benzema is a target for Wenger.

A move for FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez could be on the cards following reports in the Telegraph Sport that suggest the Gunners are in pole position.
