Barcelona issue plea to Paul Pogba to reject Chelsea overtures (video)

Barcelona international sporting director Ariedo Braida has advises Juventus star Paul Pogba to join them ahead of Manchester City and Chelsea, reports the Daily Express.

The 69-year-old thinks that the 22-year-old is good enough to make a difference in a team that already has players such as Andre Iniesta and Sergio Busquets in its midfield. He also revealed that president Josep Maria Bartomeu has taken a liking to the centre-mid.

He said: “Pogba can be a good reason for discussion with [Juventus’ managing director Beppe] Marotta. He has sufficient quality to be at any European team and it is logical that everyone seeks him.

“He is still a boy, he is 22 and has exceptional qualities. I think that he can play with us. If I had to choose, I think that Barcelona would be a club and a team with an interesting project. I would advise him to come to Barcelona. He is an important player that me and president Bartomeu like.”

However, the interest of the president may not mean much for long. The Catalan club announced on their official website that there will be elections on July 18, which could depose Bartomeu. Having just won a treble with a manager he appointed will surely help the administrator to stay in his position though.

The France international has garnered this interest after playing a key part in the Old Lady’s efforts at an historic treble last season. They won both Serie A and the Coppa Italia only to be beaten by Barca in the final of the Champions League. Along the way Pogba made 40 appearances, scoring ten goals and creating another six.
