Chelsea and Manchester United are understood to be in a battle to sign Atletico Madrid and Uruguay defender Diego Godin this summer, according to reports.
The Premier League giants are both on the lookout for central defenders this summer, with both teams also linked with other big names like Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Athletic Bilbao starlet Aymeric Laporte.
However, according to the Daily Express, it is Godin that is now the main subject of their attention, though they may struggle to sign the player, who is happy at his current club.
The 29-year-old played a major role in helping Atletico to La Liga glory last season, as well as a run to the Champions League final, where he scored the opener in the defeat to Real Madrid.
