Real Madrid star Gareth Bale put a tough season behind him to score one of the most important goals of his career to take Wales a step closer to qualifying for Euro 2016.

The winger scored the only goal of the game after 25 minutes as The Dragons defeated Belgium 1-0 in Cardiff to move three points clear at the top of Group B.

Wales have four games remaining in the qualifying section and could effectively qualify for their first major tournament in well over 50 years if they beat Cyprus and Israel in the autumn.

Bale, who has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier League this summer with Chelsea and Manchester United [via Mirror Sport], posted an emotional message via his official Instagram account where he celebrated his 50th cap for the national team in style:
