Chelsea have possibly been boosted by the news that Antonio Rudiger has changed his agent to help a move to Stamford Bridge, according to claims made in German publication Bild.

The article claims that the 22-year-old is also interested in transfers to Wolfsburg or Porto, and has changed his agent to try and sort out the situation. He has replaced former representative Uli Ferber with his half brother Sahr Senesie. Which of the trio of teams he prefers is unknown, and with all three in the Champions League it could end up going down to how much money is on offer.

The centre-back has been a regular for VfB Stuttgart for the last two seasons, which is especially impressive considering his young age. The defender has also managed to get six appearances for the German national team, making his debut just over a year ago in May 2014.

With captain John Terry not getting any younger at 34-years-old and defensive partner Gary Cahill occasionally found wanting at the highest level, Rudiger could be an eventual replacement for one of the duo. With 20-year-old Kurt Zouma also proving himself at Stamford Bridge last season, the German could form part of a new look back line under Jose Mourinho.

However, if the youngster arrives at the London outfit he will probably have to wait for his chance in a similar manner to Zouma, and indeed a number of other promising young players brought in at Chelsea in recent times. Mourinho tends to prefer experienced defenders, vindicated by the fact that the side conceded just 32 times while winning the Premier League in the most recent campaign, less than any other team in the top flight.
