The former Liverpool stopper spent the 2013-14 season on loan at the Naples outfit under Rafa Benitez, but opted to join Bayern Munich on a permanent basis last summer.

With Manuel Neuer the undisputed number one choice at the Allianz Arena, Reina decision to make the move to Germany did seem quite bizarre at the time and it now appears he’s decided he’s had enough as a back-up keeper.

The 32-year-old made just three league apperances last season and was shown a straight red card against after just 13 minutes against Augsburg last month.

That looks to have been his last action as a Bayern player as he’s set to undergo a medical with Napoli and will put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at some point next week.

The Bundesliga champions have already moved to replace Reina as they confirmed the signing of Sven Ulreich from league rivals Stuttgart [via Guardian Sport].
