The 30-year-old has just one year left on his current deal at the Allianz Arena, and he is tempted to join up with Louis van Gaal. The pair worked together while the Dutchman was in charge of the Bavarian club between 2009 and 2011. The 63-year-old even admitted back in back in February that he a new midfielder is his priority this summer according to The Guardian, meaning a move makes sense for both player and manager.

After coming away with the World Cup last summer, the Germany international endured a frustrating season. Injuries restricted him to 28 appearances in all competitions, and Bayern won only the Bundesliga. They were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal Cup and the Champions League at the semi-final stage, and the league is a given at the moment due to the weakness of their rivals.

With Michael Carrick now 33-years-old and Daley Blind being used in several positions at Old Trafford, Schweinsteiger would likely line up in central midfield should he complete the move. The former winger would be perfect for the role, being able to contribute at both ends of the pitch.
