The 24-year-old hasn’t signed a new deal at Old Trafford despite having only a year left on his current deal, and has told teammates that he wants to return to the Spanish capital according to the Mail. United originally signed the goalkeeper from Los Blancos’ fierce rivals Atletico Madrid. Despite this the La Liga giants are yet to make a formal move for him.

They are expected to do so in the near future though, and £13 million is expected to be their opening offer. However, the Red Devils are unlikely to accept this. The Premier League side is holding out for closer to £25 million, and it is likely Real will pay this to complete a deal.

If Louis van Gaal does lose his number one it will be a major blow to their chances next season. The team came to rely on the Spain international to make up for their defensive errors in the last campaign, and there aren’t many that could be brought to Old Trafford to replicate this.
