The forward had been linked with a trio of Premier League clubs, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Crystal Palace and West Ham United all rumoured to be keen on the Italian hitman, according to the Daily Star.

However, Monaco look to have stolen a march on the London quartet and are believed to be closing in on a move for the 24-year-old.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the French moneybags have agreed a fee with the Giallorossi and are set to snare the eight-cap Italy international for £10.6 million.

The player’s representative Claudio Vigorelli is set to meet with officials from both clubs on Tuesday evening in order the thrash out the final details of the player’s switch.

Destro—who is currently on holiday [according to the Star]—is expected at the Stade Louis II for his medical before the switch is confirmed.

The forward  featured for the likes of Genoa and Siena before moving to Roma in 2012. He spent some time earlier this season on loan at Milan, but struggled to find his feet at the San Siro, managing only three goals in 15 Serie A outings.

During the first half of the campaign, Destro managed five goals in 16 outings for Rudi Garcia’s side.

The international—who represented Italy at every level from U16 to U21 level—can feature right across the forward line, and will act as the long-term replacement for Dimitar Berbatov.

There is also some suggestion that he may replace Anthony Martial, who has also been linked with a move away from Leonardo Jardim’s side this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur rumoured to be interested in the teenage forward [Metro].
