The 23 year old Egyptian spent time on loan at Fiorentina last season, a move that has helped reignite the Blues bit-part player’s career, and Jose Mourinho will hope that adding Salah into a player plus cash deal could tempt Vicente Calderon boss Diego Simeone into selling.

Griezmann moved to Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad last summer and had a superb debut season in the Spanish capital, bagging 22 goals in 37 La Liga appearances, and Mourinho is looking to bring the French international to Stamford Bridge to boost his attacking options.

Atletico Madrid want £46m for Griezmann according to Gazzetta and Mourinho will hope to keep the cash cost down by offering Salah into the bargain, the type of deal that would also aid Chelsea’s push to meet UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines.

Salah barely featured at Chelsea under Mourinho but made an instant impact in Florence, scoring nine goals in 26 appearances for the Serie A side, and a move to Atletico Madrid could offer the former FC Basel man a better shot at securing regular first team action.
