The Gunners could make an £11 million bid for the 24-year-old in order to get ahead of their Premier League rivals in the race for the left-back.

Manager Arsene Wenger already has Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs in the position at the Emirates, but neither player has made the role his own.

It could be a similar move to that of Petr Cech, who the Daily Mail believe is on his way, with Arsenal strengthening an area where they already have options-in this case, Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina.

Meanwhile, their Stamford Bridge rivals could be looking to replace Filipe Luis, who the Daily Telegraph think could be on his way out after just one season. This could leave Jose Mourinho with just Cesar Azpilicueta on the left side of his back four, which isn’t enough with four competitions to take part in.

The Red Devils seem less in need of a left-back having signed Luke Shaw, Daley Blind, and Marcos Rojo last summer, all of whom are at home in the role. Perhaps the most like to give Arsenal a run for their money for Ghoulam is Real Madrid, whose manager Rafael Benitez was in charge at Napoli just last season.

The player himself could fit into at any of Europe’s biggest sides, having shown his ability in 37 appearances for the Neapolitan outfit last time round. He grabbed four assists in those games, and is known for his attacking thrust.

He was also one of Algeria’s star players at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, dazzling with his menacing forays forward and his pinpoint crossing from the left flank.
