Speculation over the Real Madrid defender’s future has been hot topic ever since reports via Guardian Sport that surfaced last weekend and claimed the Red Devils were open to a swap deal that would take goalkeeper David De Gea to Spain this summer.

As the week progressed, the rumours gathered pace and Independent Sport revealed that Ramos has begun taking English lessons, which added further fuel to the speculation that he could make the move to Old Trafford during the transfer window.

It was then reported by Spanish media publication Marca that a truce had been called between Ramos and the Madrid board and it’s expected that the player’s future will be resolved within the next two weeks.

This came on the back of reports in Guardian Sport that claimed the 29-year-old had already told the club that he wants to quit this summer and that led to United making a bid for the Spanish international, which was swiftly rejected by Los Blancos [via Mail Sport].

It’s unclear at the stage as to which direction this transfer saga will take in the next few days, but former United defender Ferdinand believes Ramos will stay in Spain and is creating a media storm in order to get a better contract at the club.
