Serie A side make ‘insane’ offer for Chelsea attacker

Serie A side Fiorentina are keen to retain the services of Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah after his successful spell at the club, with Goal.com citing quotes made by the Italian outfit’s general manager Vincenzo Guerini.

Salah barely got a look-in at Chelsea since Jose Mourinho’s return to the West London side and the 23-year-old wasted little time making an impact in Florence.

The Egyptian international netted nine goals in all competitions following his January loan switch, which was part of the deal that saw Colombian Juan Cuadrado move in the opposite direction, and now Fiorentina are keen to keep hold of the former FC Basel man.

“I can tell the fans that the club made an insane offer to Salah.” Vincenzo Guerini stated.

“If any player, not just Salah, turned down a proposal like that, then it’s best he doesn’t stay at Fiorentina. However, I think Salah will accept.

“He made a huge impact with us, so it’s normal that other offers are coming in. He wants to earn more, but Fiorentina made a truly important proposal.

“It really would be a pity to lose him. He was happy with us last season. He was always smiling and was never late. So I am confident he will stay.” Vincenzo Guerini concluded.

Chelsea paid £11m for Salah in January 2014 and he initially impressed in the second half of the 2013/14 campaign with a succession of explosive cameo displays.

Salah managed just three sub appearances in the Premier League in 2014/15 prior to being sent to Fiorentina where he then grabbed half a dozen Serie A goals and also registered efforts in the Coppa Italia and Europa League fixtures.

It is likely that should Salah return to Chelsea then he’d struggle to displace the likes of Eden Hazard or Willian, who fill the berths on either flank in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven, and as such a chance to return to Fiorentina may well be one the speedy forward would consider.

Goal.com claim that Fiorentina have an option to keep hold of Salah on another season long loan deal though it’s a deal the Chelsea man must first sign-off on.
