Chelsea are favourites to land Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic – a target for Manchester United – as Petr Cech’s move to Arsenal nears completion.
Thibaut Courtois is set to continue as Jose Mourinho’s first-choice stopper at Stamford Bridge next season, but with Cech closing in on a transfer to north of the English capital, the Portuguese manager is in need of a replacement.
Begovic is at the top of his goalkeeping wish list.
The Red Devils were also said to have earmarked the Potters stopper as a potential successor to Real Madrid-bound David De Gea [Daily Star]; however, according to Sky Sports, the Blues are leading the battle for his signature.

Cech underwent his Gunners medical on Friday after Arsene Wenger opted to bring the date forward, and the Czech Republic international’s deal with the Blues’ London rivals could be announced within the coming days. Personal terms and a £10.9m fee are said to have been agreed, leaving a successful medical as the final piece needed to complete the transfer [Sky Sports].
