25 year old Schneiderlin is set to join Man United in a £24m deal which has left Koeman searching for a suitable replacement and whilst the likes of Feyenoord battler Jordy Clasie and Lille midfielder Idrissa Gueye are on the Dutchman’s wish-list, it’s Cabaye who he hopes to snap up.

Cabaye has struggled to secure a regular spot in Laurent Blanc’s starting eleven since moving to the French Capital 18 months ago and could be tempted by a return to the Premier League.

The 29 year old French international greatly impressed during his time at Newcastle United and may be interested in moving to a resurgent Southampton side.

Koeman’s side were for a time pushing for a top four finish but had to settle for a very impressive seventh place finish and will enjoy a shot at Europa League glory in 2015/16.
