Reports stating Arsenal have signed Arturo Vidal were an elaborate prank

The 26-year-old only signed for the Gunners last summer, but it looks like it will be a short stay for the Colombia international in North London. Manager Arsene Wenger is set to let him go as the £11 million arrival of Cech gets nearer. Fellow goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will stay at the club in order to fight for his place against the 33-year-old.

Les Phoceens are battling with Fenerbahce for the stopper, with the Turkish giants interested in a £4 million transfer. The player is open to a move to the Stade Velodrome, and it could be that a deal is agreed quickly as Wenger is set to announce the signing of Cech on Monday according to the Metro.

Ospina is actually leaving the Gunners despite winning the number one jersey with his performances last season. Szczesny was dropped in January, shortly after being fined £20,000 for smoking in the changing rooms after a loss at Southampton, as the Daily Telegraph reported. However, the errors he made for each of the goals in the 2-0 defeat could also be behind his dropping.

After this Ospina went on to finish the campaign with 23 appearances, but was criticised at times for his ability to deal with crosses. At just 6 foot he is short for a Premier League ‘keeper, and with a title challenge on the cards next time round his boss Wenger will want someone completely reliable between the sticks. As such Cech, with 485 games under his belt at Stamford Bridge, could be just the man they need.
