Manager Brendan Rodgers is willing to let the 28-year-old go alongside players such as Mario Balotelli, Jose Enrique, Rickie Lambert, and Fabio Borini. This is despite him being a key player for the side when fit, greatly improving their midfield, as one of their only defensively-minded players in the middle of the park.

Inter Milan have been linked to him by the Daily Mirror.

The Brazilian made 32 appearances for the Reds last time round, becoming an important player despite not contributing any goals or assists. With James Milner and Roberto Firmino the only midfielders arriving this summer so far, a real replacement for Lucas hasn’t been bought and losing him would surely weaken the side.

Along with the former Gremio man, the Merseyside club are aiming to offload those listed earlier, as well as Sebastian Coates and Luis Alberto to try and balance the books after splurging on incoming transfers.

Milner, Firmino, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez, and soon Nathaniel Clyne, according to the Daily Mail, will have arrived at Anfield in this window, and they need to sell in order to make their money back.

One sale that would be a major step towards covering these costs would be that of Raheem Sterling. Manchester City are planning to make a £50 million offer for the England international, reported ESPN, and this would be a considerable amount of money for a player who only managed eight goals and eight assists in 47 appearances last time round.
