Los Blancos boss Rafa Benitez is keen to see how Asier Illarramendi, Lucas Silva, and Casemiro do before making any decisions about bringing in a new central midfielder. This leaves the way open for the Red Devils to nip in and swoop for Biglia, before the former Liverpool manager makes a decision.

The 29-year-old tends to play as a deep-lying midfielder, and is able to contribute both defensively and in the attacking third. This would make him perfect for United, with manager Louis van Gaal already having made it clear that a centre midfielder is a priority this summer, according to the Metro.

With Michael Carrick now 33-years-old and probably not able to compete properly on four fronts as the team will be expected to do so next season, he will need some back up. Daley Blind can also feature in the role, but could be needed elsewhere due to his versatility and great performances at left-back last time round.

Last season, Biglia made 31 appearances for Napoli, scoring three goals and assisting another two.

The Argentina international also has 27 caps for his country, and is currently at the Copa America with the national team. He has helped them to get to the semi-finals of the competition so far, and was also an important part of the side which made it to the World Cup final last year. This big-game experience could be a draw for United, with the club returning to the Champions League next season.

His ability to do this won’t hurt either!
