Chelsea have moved ahead of Manchester City as the new favourites to sign Liverpool star Raheem Sterling this summer as they look set to table a £42m bid for the England international.
The immensely talented 20-year-old is keen to leave Anfield this summer after a row over a new contract, and has been strongly linked with City in recent weeks.
The Premier League runners-up have failed with a bid of £40m for Sterling, but it now looks like Chelsea are the highest bidders with a slightly improved offer, according to Spanish source Fichajes.net.
Liverpool publicly want £50m for Sterling, but it may be that they will struggle to get the troublesome forward off their books with such a high asking price.
