The 2014-15 Barclays Premier League runners-up are yet to make a significant purchase to their squad so far this summer despite being linked with a host of new additions.

Two bids for Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling have already been rejected [via BBC Sport], while their pursuit of Juventus powerhouse Paul Pogba seems to have hit a brick wall as rumours [via Express Sport] claim La Liga giants Barcelona are the favourites to land the Frenchman.

However, City are still keen to sign at least one of their three main transfer targets and have not been dettered by comments made by Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs about De Bruyne:

He will stay with us,” he told he told German media outlet Sport1 [via Mirror Sport].

“Kevin has a contract until 2019, hence the message is already sent.”

“Nevertheless, we said: “We look at his contract again’. The aim is also to take into account Kevin’s extraordinary development.”

“We try to have our best players on the best salaries so we will make a proposal and I think we will very quickly reach an agreement here,” Allofs added.

De Bruyne joined the Bundesliga outfit from Chelsea in the 2014 January transfer window and has gone on to be a revelation in Germany.

Last season he scored 10 league goals and registered 20 assists as the club finished second and claimed a place in next season’s Champions League.
