While the potential signing of William Carvalho had prompted excitement among Arsenal fans, the mood changed when the Portugal midfielder missed a decisive penalty in the UEFA Euro U21 finals shootout.

Then Sporting Lisbon man was the fall guy as Portugal missed out on the continental youth crown following a 4-3 defeat to Sweden in the showpiece final in Prague.
Carvalho saw his penalty saved by Swedish keeper Patrik Carlgren, guaranteeing that the Esperancas missed out on the prize.
Carvalho has been linked with both Manchester United and Arsenal, with the latter reportedly closing in on a £19.8 million move for the powerful midfielder according to the Metro. The Daily Star also noted that the Gunners were ‘likely’ to secure the 23-year-old’s signature.
However, it remains to be seen whether fans of the North-London giants would be happy to see Carvalho arrive at the Emirates Stadium.
The mood certainly appeared to change following the powerhouse’s missed spotkick, with one fan even suggesting the potential arrival would be a poor man’s Francis Coquelin.
