Chelsea in advanced talks to sign £29.2m Manchester United target
On Tuesday, contrasting reports claimed that the Atleti playmaker had both agreed personal terms with the Red Devils, and was also in advanced talks with Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.
While it remains uncertain which – or if – either suggestion is correct, according to the Manchester Evening News, the Turkey international is set to make a decision on his future within the coming days and will make an announcement this Friday.
The report also claims that Arsenal may be negotiating with the player.
The Daily Mail stated that the Estadio Vicente Calderon No.10 favours a transfer to Stamford Bridge, as he is excited at the prospect of working with the Blues’ Portuguese manager. The 28-year-old’s representatives have held initial talks with the Premier League champions, the newspaper claim.
Turan has a release-clause of £29m, but Chelsea, as the Daily Mail suggest, may be able to bring this figure down by offering left-back Filipe Luis in a player-plus-cash deal. The Brazilian struggled for playing time in his debut season in England’s top flight with Cesar Azpilicueta proving the undisputed first-choice in the defensive position.
Diego Simeone has publicly voicing his desire to lure the 29-year-old back to the Spanish capital [via the Daily Star].
Turan’s agent revealed that his client would be leaving Simeone’s side this summer, with his desire being “to leave and to play in the Premier League, that is the path he would like to take to continue his career,” as quoted by Sky Sports.
