The winger scored a brace for his national team as they hammered Paraguay 6-1 to reach the final of the 2015 Copa America tournament.

His first came two minutes into the second half and he latched onto a pass from Javier Pastore to find the back of the net with a crisp finish.

Six minutes later the 27-year-old scored his second of the game with a simple tap-in after the ball broke kindly for him in the penalty area.

Di Maria’s struggles in English football have been well documented since his arrival from La Liga giants Real Madrid last summer as his form dipped considerably after a decent start to life in Manchester.

He lost his place in the starting XI towards the end of last season and that prompted speculation that he could depart Old Trafford in the summer.

Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain are rumoured to be interested in a swap deal for involving Edinson Cavani [via Telegraph Sport], however, Di Maria has already stated that he wants to stay and prove doubters wrong [via Mail Sport].

With him seemingly getting back to his best, can United supporters look forward to improved performances next season?
