United boss Louis Van Gaal has said privately that the Mexican forward is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, and with Real Madrid also unwilling to take up a deal to sign the player permanently, he could now be heading back to the Americas.

Record claim that Orlando officials are increasingly confident that they can get their man. If the deal goes through he would join Brazilian legend Kaka at the newest MLS franchise.

Sources close to the player have said there is a 70 percent chance he will sign for the Florida club this summer.

It is understood that it is still Hernandez’s preference to play in Europe, but with few clubs willing to meet his wages, options appear to be running out.

Record say that Chicago Fire are also in the running for his signature.
