The 34-year-old signed a one year contract extension in May, but this hasn’t stopped Sparta owner Daniel Kretinsky from admitting that he wants to sign the midfielder. He may have a chance at this because of the Gunners’ plentiful options in the middle of the park.

The North Londoners already have Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mesut Ozil, and Aaron Ramsey who can play in midfield. This led to him only making 22 appearances last time round, only eight of which were starts.

Rosicky spent three years with the Czech side before joining Borussia Dortmund back in 2001. He played 59 games for them, scoring 12 goals before his big move. It may well be that he wants to finish his career with his hometown club after proving himself at the highest level. The Czech Republic has netted 28 times in 243 matches for Arsenal and played 100 times for his country, scoring 22 goals.
