The Argentina midfielder is being earmarked by both United and Real as a potential summer recruit, with both having need for reinforcements in the heart of the midfield this summer.

The Merengues have lost Sami Khedira, who moved to Juventus on a free transfer, while Louis van Gaal looks to be seeking a replacement for Michael Carrick, who will be 34 by the time the 2015-16 season begins [Sky Sports].

Both have identified Biglia as a potential solution, although according to Il Messaggero [via the Express], they may face an uphill struggle to nab the international star.

The Italian source report that the former Anderlecht man has been offered a lucrative five-year deal as the Rome-based club look to keep him at the Stadio Olimpico.

The prospect of a Champions League campaign with the Eagles, and a contract worth a reported £1.6 million may well tempt Biglia to stick it out in Serie A.

However, even if he is swayed by the prospect of moving to either Old Trafford or the Bernabeu, either European giant would need to spend big to acquire him.

It is understood that both clubs would need to part with £35.5 million to sign the midfielder, although considering that Madrid’s opening bid for the player was a reported £15.6 million, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport [via the Daily Express], it remains to be seen if either club will meet the Biancocelesti’s asking price.
