It was today announced that the former Manchester United forward had agreed a season-long loan deal with the Premier League champions, finally putting an end to weeks of speculation that he would be remaining in England’s top flight next season, but this time under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.

The 29-year-old has spoken out over the move, and insists that he is all set to battle his former club, the Red Devils, along with Arsenal and Manchester City to ensure that the Premier League trophy remains in west London.

“I am very happy to be joining Chelsea and can’t wait to start training and help with our aim of retaining the league title and being successful in Europe,” as quoted by the Daily Star.

The words ‘four goals in 29 Premier League appearances’ is beginning to make monotonous reading, and there’s no doubt that Falcao will need to hit the ground running with the Blues to silence his critics.

Mourinho favours the 4-3-3 formation, which means the former Atletico Madrid star is likely to play as back-up to Diego Costa; however, with the Spain international’s injury concerns in his first campaign in the English capital, Falcao could prove a crucial signing.
