The 30-year-old failed to become a regular at the Emirates in his three seasons with the club, but still managed to scored 31 goals in 82 appearances during his time there. The last campaign appeared to be the final nail in the coffin for the Germany international’s future with the Gunners, with the forward netting three times in 13 games before being loaned out.

His temporary deal with Inter Milan didn’t go much better, with the striker only scoring once in 18 matches. However, Gala are still signing a high-quality player.

Podolski has 48 goals in 125 appearances for Germany, and helped them to win the World Cup last summer. He is also well known for his brilliant finishing, which perhaps wasn’t utilised properly by Arsene Wenger while mainly playing him on the left wing.

Arsenal are unlikely to miss the forward though, with Alexis Sanchez taking his role on the flank, and Olivier Giroud always playing ahead of him up front. They will be hoping to challenge for the Premier League title next time round, without Podolski.
