Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski looks set to finalise a move to Galatasaray today after the Turkish giants’ Twitter account announced the German international will put pen to paper on a contract with a club this afternoon.

The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Inter Milan, but failed to impress as he no longer looks to have a future at the Emirates Stadium.

Podolski first joined the Gunners from FC Cologne back in the summer of 2012, and enjoyed a productive first season in north London, scoring 16 goals in all competitions to partially help the team replace Robin van Persie, who joined Manchester United that summer.

However, the former Bayern Munich man was not as successful in his second season, scoring only 12 goals as he found himself in and out of the side, appearing to struggle with fitness problems and missing much of the season through injury.

He did, however, feature as Arsenal won the FA Cup in 2014, and has earned a reputation as a popular figure in the dressing room and with a large number of the club’s fans, also oweing to his strong social media presence.

Still, with new players brought in in attack last season such as Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck, it is little surprise to see Podolski lose his place in the team and make the move away, with Galatasray now appearing to be his next destination, as also reported by Sky Sports.
