The 22-year-old had originally been entitled to further rest after taking part in the Under 21s European Championships for the Three Lions. However, he is keen to start his Reds career as soon as possible, and get to know his new teammates and training methods.

A fee hasn’t even been agreed for the striker as of yet, with Burnley pushing to get £8 million for helping to develop him at Turf Moor. If the two sides are unable to come to an agreement then the case will go to a tribunal. Either way the Clarets looks set to miss out on some profit after Tottenham offered £12 million for the forward before he chose Anfield.

Last season Ings scored 11 goals in 35 appearances for Sean Dyche’s side in the Premier League. This was almost 40% of their 28 total goals in the competition as the team was relegated to the Championship. He will be hoping to do better than Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert, and Mario Balotelli did in the last campaign at Anfield, and help the club get back in to the Champions League next time round.
