The Tunisia international is set to be one of the most sought-after protagonists of the summer transfer window, and has been considered in the plans of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona and Liverpool [all via the Express].

The Premier League pair also face competition from West Ham United [Metro], Juventus, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Newcastle United [all L’Equipe].

Atleti can now be added to that extensive list, with L’Equipe reporting that Diego Simeone sees the powerful defender as an ideal replacement for Brazil international Miranda, who has left for Inter Milan.

25-year-old Abdennour was key player for Leonardo Jardim’s side last season as they overcame a slow start to the campaign to ultimately secure a Champions League spot from the grips of Olympique de Marseille.

Abdennour—who can also play in either full-back role—was absent for several weeks at the Africa Cup of Nations, but returned to play a vital part in the side’s strong end to the campaign.

He also impressed in the Champions League, particularly in the first leg of ASM’s round-of-16 clash against Arsenal, which the Club of the Principality won 3-1.

L’Equipe understand that Monaco would be looking for €25 million for Abdennour, who previously featured for Etoile du Sahel, Werder Bremen and Toulouse.
