The club owner also claimed that three offers have been accepted for the 25-year-old. One of those could be from Manchester United, who have been linked with a move for the right-back. The Red Devils saw Nathaniel Clyne join fierce rivals Liverpool last week [Daily Star], and are now after the Italian as an alternative to the England international.

“Everyone who arrives at Bormio will stay for the rest of the year. Extra time has begun and on Sunday there will be the final whistle, that is the deadline,” said Cairo, “Three concrete offers have arrived for Darmian, but out of respect for those who made the offers I won’t reveal them.

“An extraordinary player like Matteo will want to try and win the Champions League and Toro can’t win it.”

United had to rely on Antonio Valencia at right-back last season. Although naturally a midfielder, the Ecuador international has been playing ahead of Rafael, who manager Louis van Gaal appears to have little faith in [Daily Mail]. As such Darmian would be a major improvement in the position, and could be a vital addition if the team are going to compete on all four fronts next season.

Last time round, the defender made 47 appearances for Torino, scoring five goals. He helped the side to finish ninth in Serie A, as well as get to the last 16 of the Europa League, during a campaign in which they were noted for their impressive wide play.
