The 24-year-old hasn’t had much of a look-in under van Gaal with the Dutch manager opting to use Luis Antonio Valencia as his primary option in the right-back berth and it’s no surprise that Rafael could be on his way out.

Though the attack minded full-back has impressed in patches since his 2008 move to Old Trafford, it would be fair to say that on the whole Rafael da Silva has proven far too inconsistent.

Van Gaal appears keen to trim his squad this summer having already offloaded Angelo Henríquez, Tom Cleverley and Nani with the likes of Robin van Persie and Jonny Evans also being strongly linked with imminent exits

Galatasaray, Napoli and Fiorentina are all apparently keen on Rafael.
