According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Red Devils held talks with the right-back on Monday night, and have agreed personal terms with the player ahead of a seemingly imminent transfer to Old Trafford – if a fee can be agreed upon.
The report states that the Serie A side are demanding €18m plus €2m in add-ons from the Premier League giants for the Italy international’s signature – but Di Marzio claims that the former Netherlands manager is willing to meet the price.
In reports cited by Sport, Darmian has been offered a four-year contract and will earn around £48,000 per-week at the Theatre of Dreams – which will triple his current wages with Torino.
The 25-year-old has an annual salary of €700,000 after tax in Italy, but Manchester United have tabled a deal worth €2.5m per-year after tax.
A versatile full-back, Darmian is capable at playing anywhere across the back-line and in a wide midfield role on either flank.
With United’s concerns at right-back, as Antonio Valencia remains first-choice in the position, the Italy full-back could be an excellent – and perhaps much needed – acquisition.
