The England international has reportedly informed the club of his intentions to quit the club this summer and also to not be considered for the imminent pre-season tour of South East Asia and Australia [via Guardian Sport].

Chances of Sterling starting the new season with the Merseyside outfit look slim after the latest reports, which has irked a selection of the club’s supporters and Carragher has also weighed in with his views via his official blog Kicca and believes his former teammate is slowly tarnishing his reputation:

“He’s starting to get a reputation that could be hard to rid himself of in the future, are Man City fans looking at the situation and thinking this could be us in a few years?,” the Kop hero said.

“I think this situation will only make Liverpool more determined to get the fee they feel Raheem is worth rather than caving in to Raheem’s & Man City’s wishes,” Carragher added.

Manchester City appear to be the only team in the race to sign Sterling during the summer transfer window and have already seen two offers rejected by the Reds [via BBC Sport].

However, with their FFP restrictions now lifted [via Guardian Sport], many expect City to invest heavily in their squad in attempts to regain the Premier League title next season and a final offer for the winger is expected in the near future [via Telegraph Sport].

Having only managed seven goals and seven assists in the Premier League last term, it remains to be seen whether City will risk spending Liverpool’s asking price-£50 million [Telegraph]-to sign the troubled forward.
