Raheem Sterling refuses to join Liverpool pre-season tour

Want-away contract rebel Raheem Sterling has told Liverpool that he will not join their pre-season tour of Australia and South-East Asia according to the Daily Mirror.

The 20 year old has been the subject of two failed Man City bids and is clearly keen to leave Anfield though Liverpool are set to stick to their asking price of £50m, and will not accept any lesser offer for the England international.

Sterling has told his employers that he is not in the right frame of mind to be involved in Liverpool’s pre-season activities and will no doubt that hope that such a stance forces the Merseyside to cash-in on his services.

Liverpool signed Sterling from QPR in 2010 and the attacker has matured into one of the hottest prospects in European football and has become a key member of Brendan Rodgers’ first team set-up.

Last term Sterling netted 11 goals in all competitions though it appears Liverpool are planning for his departure having invested heavily in the transfer market in recent weeks.
