The Germany international – who has been linked with Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United over the past few months, with the Daily Star even claiming that the Red Devils had reached an agreement – has admitted that he wasn’t short of offers this summer, of which he ‘deliberately’ snubbed.

“I had lucrative offers that BVB knew of and I deliberately turned them down to stay,” as quoted by the Daily Star.

Nonetheless, while revealing his rejection of ‘lucrative’ offers to exit the Westfalenstadion, the midfielder admits that he could leave BVB in a year’s time – though he has warned potential suitors against making a move for his signature in the January window.

“I cannot say this will never happen; maybe in a year, maybe in two years.

“But a departure in the winter is not on the table.”
