Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Internacional midfielder Charles Aranguiz in a £16.1m deal this summer, according to La Tercera.

The Blues could do with some improvements in the middle of the park for next season, with players like Ramires and John Obi Mikel looking a little unconvincing for Jose Mourinho’s side at times last term.

Chelsea won the Premier League title comfortably in the end, but could do with some tweaking in certain areas to ensure they remain on course to retain their trophy in 2015/16.

Five facts Arsenal fans should know about Chilean midfield target Charles Aranguiz

Aranguiz’s fine form at this summer’s Copa America appears to have seen Chelsea join Arsenal in the race for his signature, with additional information from the Metro suggesting the Gunners had previously looked at the Brazil-based player.

The 26-year-old certainly looks good enough to make the step up to playing in Europe, and has the work-rate and quality to prove a hit in the Premier League if he does end up making the move to Stamford Bridge.

Aranguiz could join fellow Chilean Alexis Sanchez in England if he does move, though it may be that they will end up as rivals next season if the South American battler links up with Mourinho at Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea.
