Liverpool star Raheem Sterling is unhappy with life at Anfield largely due to his relationship with manager Brendan Rodgers, according to an in-depth report from the Daily Mirror.

The 20-year-old has been targeted by Manchester City this summer, with BBC Sport recently reporting that the Premier League runners-up had failed with a bid of around £40m for the England international.

Additional information from the Daily Mirror recently revealed that Sterling did not want to go on the club’s pre-season tour this summer, seemingly in an attempt to help force through an exit from the Merseyside giants, which it has now emerged is largely down to the breakdown in his relationship with Rodgers.

Despite becoming a key part of the first-team under the Northern Irishman and seeing his performances rise drastically for the Reds under his guidance, it seems Sterling’s main reason for wanting to leave is his boss, and the Mirror claims he would consider changing his mind and staying if there were a different head coach in charge.

Sterling’s latest strike action has seen him become a target for abuse from fans again, with Mirror Sport revealing that angry supporters have turned up at his home as well as sending him abusive text and WhatsApp messages, with someone at the club leaking his mobile phone number.

Sterling is unhappy with Rodgers due to several broken promises relating to the leaking of private conversations, and the player also feels Rodgers has made a deliberate effort to hide their issues by posing close to the youngster in photos taken during training.
