This is usually a formality before a move is confirmed in the near future. They confirmed the news on Twitter.

The Turkish side are expected to pay  €6 million for the Dutchman, who will then sign a three-year deal that will make him the highest paid player at the club.

The 31-year-old scored ten goals in 29 appearances last season, and his old injury troubles appeared to be returning. As such, the former Arsenal man may not be too missed at Old Trafford. However, manager Louis van Gaal will still need to sign a replacement, as this has left Wayne Rooney as the only senior striker in the squad.

Van Persie is the second Manchester United player to have joined Fenerbahce this summer, following Nani to the Super Lig. The Portuguese signed a deal in front of thousands of fans on Monday, and the 31-year-old may have a similar ceremony in the near future.
