According to Sky Sport Italia [via Sky Sports], the Serie A giants have reached an agreement with the Montenegro striker’s agent, and are now negotiating with Manuel Pellegrini to grant the out-of-favour forward a spell away from the Etihad Stadium next season.

The report states that Roberto Mancini wants to sign the 25-year-old temporarily for the 2015-16 campaign, but the Italian manager is keen on a permanent deal next summer – perhaps if he impresses in a probationary 12-months at the San Siro.

Earlier in the week, the former Fiorentina star was set to be the subject of a £16m bid from Liverpool [via the Liverpool Echo]; however, it seems the Reds may have missed out on his signature.

Inter’s interest in Jovetic may be a consequence of interest for the club’s top goalscorer Mauro Icardi – who finished level with Verona’s Luca Toni on 22 goals to claim Capocannoniere last season – as he is said to be on the radar of Chelsea and Manchester City, while Real Madrid have also joined the transfer race, talkSPORT report.

The Argentina international recently put pen-to-paper on a new contract with the Nerazzurri – set to expire in 2019 – but the club may be expecting bids for their prized asset, if reports prove correct.

The attacker managed five goals in 17 Premier League appearances last term, but has wholly failed to assert himself in the Citizens’ starting XI since moving to the club.
