The 25-year-old posted:

This tweet could be construed as a show of solidarity with the 20-year-old, and the Mirror have reported it as such.

Sterling has complained that manager Brendan Rodgers’s treatment has pushed him closer to the exit door [The Guardian]. Specifically, the England international is unhappy about the Northern Irishman not taking his desire to leave seriously, and also not informing him of enquiries from Manchester City and Manchester United.

If teammates are supporting the youngster then it will be a major blow for Rodgers, who could be in danger of losing the dressing room if this is true. However, with six new signings having already been made, and more possibly on the way, it could be that the influx of new faces quietens any dissent.

One easy way for the 42-year-old to end this saga is to sell Sterling.

The Citizens are apparently still keen to sign the England international despite this outspoken summer, dnare going to make a bid of £40 million plus £5 million in add ons [Daily Mirror]. This is despite the Reds demanding £50 million for the player earlier [Daily Star]. His antics since then could now mean that the Merseyside are more desperate to sell.

Speaking to talkSPORT, ex-Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer criticised City for the role they have played in influencing the forward to push for a move.
