With confirmation that Manchester United have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for the signing of world class midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, Louis van Gaal is poised to complete his ninth major signing since arriving last summer.

9) Radamel Falcao
The Colombian striker is the worst signing of the lot as he struggled whilst on-loan with the Red Devils last year. He registered just four league goals all season and simply looked a shadow of his former self.
8) Luke Shaw
Much was anticipated from Shaw following his big money move from Southampton just after last summer’s World Cup, however Shaw struggled with a host of injuries which limited him to just 16 Premier League appearances last season and his yet to justify his £30m price-tag.
