Higuain to Arsenal: Napoli chairman says he’d like to sell Gunners transfer target

Huge hint Napoli could sell Higuain to Arsenal.

Napoli chairman Aurelio de Laurentiis has strongly hinted that he could sell Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain to Arsenal in this summer’s transfer window, according to the Metro.

The Argentine international would command a huge asking price, however, with the Italian quoted in the Metro as saying he’d like to sell the club’s star player if they receive a fee of £64.7m, which would allow the Serie A giants to bring in almost an entire new squad.

Napoli may struggle to hold on to their big names this summer after missing out on qualifying for the Champions League, and Higuain is certainly one of the biggest names on the books at the Stadio San Paolo.

Earlier this week, the Daily Star added weight to the rumours that the 27-year-old’s switch to the Emirates Stadium could be on, with the player himself said to be pushing for the move to north London.

With Arsenal only having Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck as options up front last season, there’s no doubt that the addition of a player of Higuain’s quality would significantly improve the team’s goal threat overall, with their top scorer in 2014/15 being Alexis Sanchez, an attacking midfielder or winger rather than an out-and-out centre-forward.
