Liverpool have reportedly made a bid of around £22m to sign Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev this summer, with the Spanish giants currently considering whether or not to accept the offer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Reds are in need of new additions in attack this summer, with the possibility that Raheem Sterling could be on his way out of the club as Manchester City pursue him, though they will have to offer £50m for the Merseyside giants to consider letting him go, according to another report from the Daily Mirror.

Cheryshev’s fine form on loan at Villarreal last season seems to have persuaded Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers that he could do a job in his side’s attacking midfield department, which he has already strengthened with the signings of Roberto Firmino and James Milner this summer.

The Russian wide-man scored 7 goals for Villarreal last season, but is yet to make a single La Liga appearance for parent club Real Madrid, who will surely not find a place for him due to the vast competition in their attack going into the new season.

This could end up benefitting Liverpool as the player himself may well be tempted to move to Anfield with the offer of regular playing time, as he has shown what he can do during loan spells away from the Bernabeu, so it remains to be seen if Real will feel the £22m on the table is enough.

Another Real Madrid player on Liverpool’s radar this summer is Spanish midfielder Asier Illarramendi, with the Daily Express reporting in the last few days that the Premier League giants could make him their latest summer signing. Like Cheryshev, the 25-year-old is not a regular for Los Blancos and the Express say he could be allowed to leave if Madrid bring in Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho in his place.
