Striker pictured arriving for transfer, Man United already have fee agreed

Robin van Persie’s reported transfer to Fenerbahce should be completed in the coming hours after the Manchester United striker posted an image on social media of him presumably heading to Turkey.

The former Arsenal man is set to end his 11-year spell in England after a fee between last season’s Super Lig runners-up and United was agreed late last week.

A further image want then posted soon after via Fenerbahce’s official Twitter account of he and his family touching down in Istanbul and it seems all that is left is for the 31-year-old is to pass a medical and sign a contract.

A report from the Metro adds that a fee has been agreed and this transfer should be imminent, in what is another big-name buy for Fener this summer after also bringing in Nani from United.

Van Persie has struggled to replicate the form from his first season at Old Trafford where he helped steer the club to a record 20th league title after scoring 26 league goals.

However, following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson as manager at the end of that campaign, Van Persie has found it very tough under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

Last season he often failed to complete the full ninety minutes and the final nail in his Old Trafford coffin seemed to come when he missed a penalty against West Brom which denied the Red Devils at least a point.

His imminent departure at such an early stage in his career may come as a surprise to many, but with the European Championships on the horizon next summer, it’s important he is playing regularly in the upcoming campaign.
