Tottenham set to sign £11m World Cup winner as Mauricio Pochettino looks to strengthen White Hart Lane attack

White Hart Lane side close in on Juventus ace.

Tottenham are reportedly set to sign Juventus forward Fernando Llorente according to the Metro.

The 30-year-old is set to leave Turin following the Serie A side’s capture of forwards Pablo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic and wants to move to White Hart Lane.

Mauricio Pochettino was overly reliant on youngster Harry Kane in 2014/15, the England man smashing in 31 goals in all competitions, with the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado offering very little by way of goal-scoring support.

Llorente enjoyed a strong debut season in Italy, the lanky World Cup winner netting 18 goals, but his second campaign proved less fruitful and saw Alvaro Morata leapfrog the experienced Spaniard to become Massimiliano Allegri’s back-up to Carlos Tevez, the Argentine having since left for Boca Juniors.

Prior to his move to Italy, Llorente had made a name for himself at Athletic Bilbao, scoring 118 goals for the Basque side, and a move to the Premier League could help to revive the Pamplona born marksman’s fortunes.
