Twitter reacts to Liverpool’s links with Christian Benteke: ‘Who in their right minds pays £32.5m?’

Liverpool are set to match Aston Villa star Christian Benteke‘s release clause of £32.5 million, according to the BBC.

This hasn’t been met by unanimous joy by the Anfield faithful, with many disappointed at being linked with the 24-year-old. The price for his signature, especially when taking in to account his lack of experience at a high level in Europe, is a major drawback.

The striker’s lack of pace and passing ability is also a problem. Even the forward’s strengths, heading and holding the ball up, aren’t what is generally needed to fit in with the Merseyside club. The struggles of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert, who have similar strong points, show how this could hold Benteke back.
